Turnaround
Description
The Turning Point Scotland Turnaround service delivers focussed services that address the complex and interrelated issues of offending behaviour and problematic use of alcohol and other drugs. In 2018, we redesigned our service to also include a Throughcare model.
Residential service
Since 2007, we have worked alongside councils and social work departments within 14 local authorities including Angus, Argyll & Bute, Clackmannanshire, Dumfries & Galloway, East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Fife, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.
An asset based approach has been adopted to help increase an individual’s self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence. Self-development and reflection is key to an individual when putting into practice the skills and learning achieved within the service to help sustain their recovery and offending behaviour.
Throughcare service
Turnaround Throughcare is the preparatory stage of the service and provides individualised, practical support in the community before entering Turnaround Residential service. This stage aims to address the immediate needs of individuals by linking them into recovery networks, mutual aid groups, community support and health services in their local area with the primary objective to ensure a smooth transition into Residential service.
The throughcare element of support is designed to help people sustain their recovery and reduce offending behaviour. Turning Point Scotland encourages our colleagues and stakeholders to think about life in the community for those who access our service. Through trauma informed working practices, we support people to build recovery capital and be active citizens within it by providing opportunities for local inclusion and helping people engage in meaningful activity to build confidence and resilience.
