After 25 years of dedicated service at Turning Point Scotland, Lorna Adams has decided to begin her retirement.

Lorna left the organisation in April as an experienced Service Manager working for many years at Learning Disability services in Dumfries and Galloway.

In her own words Lorna shares some thoughts on her retirement with colleagues, people we support, their families and organisational partners within the Dumfries and Galloway community.

I walked through the doors of Ashburn, the first Turning Point Scotland service in Stewartry, on a sunny June day in 2000.

I was there to meet the team and plan for incoming tenants and begin my career pathway with Turning Point Scotland.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for the support, opportunities, and experiences I have had during my time with Turning Point Scotland.

Working alongside dedicated colleagues, families and partners supporting the individuals in our care has been rewarding and meaningful.

I am proud to have been part of a team that makes a positive difference in people’s lives every day no matter how big or small.

The stand out moments for me will always be the ‘firsts’, which there are too many to mention.

Over the years, I have learned so much both personally and professionally, and I appreciate the friendships, memories, and experiences I will always carry with me.

Many fun times have been had, without mentioning names you know who you are.

Through my career there has been many peaks and troughs, however, Turning Point Scotland always instilled in me the values to ensure the best outcomes.

Thank you for the encouragement, and commitment shown throughout my journey by many people who I have had the pleasure of meeting both past, present and some no longer here.

I wish everyone in Turning Point Scotland, families and partners continued success for the future.

Turning Point Scotland, Head of Dumfries and Galloway Services, Sharon McMullan praised Lorna’s commitment to the organisation.

“Lorna dedicated 25 years of her career to Turning Point Scotland, which is an amazing achievement. While her retirement from our team is a great loss of experience, we wish her all the best in this next phase of her life. On behalf of our team here I would like to thank Lorna for her long-term contribution to our services in Dumfries and Galloway.”
