We welcome the launch of Preventing Harm, Promoting Recovery, Scotland’s Alcohol and Drugs Strategic Plan 2026-2035 that is underpinned by a compassionate, evidence based and human rights informed approach. This strategy builds upon the approach already set out in the National Mission – an approach we believe is the right way forward and deserving of long-term commitment.
Turning Point Scotland are pleased to see a strong focus on multiagency working, recognising the role that homelessness and prevention, mental health and justice play in the wider circle of support. We are in the unique position of working across all these areas and know first-hand the need for a joined-up approach to meet the wider needs of people living with alcohol and other drug dependencies.
This response has been built on learnings from previous frameworks and acknowledge the implementation gap between policy and delivery. What we need to see now is sustainable investment, accountability and focus to ensure that this strategy save lives.
