Turning Point Scotland is a leading social care charity operating 42 services across Scotland. We are currently looking for an agency or a small number of agencies to provide agency worker services for Clinical & Care (support practitioners, lead practitioners and nurses), administrators and ancillary (security, maintenance, cleaning, catering) and cooks across our services and at Head Office.

The range of services include learning disability (including forensic learning disability), mental health, autism, alcohol & other drugs, homelessness & prevention and justice. The majority of our services are registered with the Care Inspectorate & 2 with HIS and the models range from: residential services in relation to alcohol & other drugs and justice services; to housing support, care at home and bespoke models.  Each service operates as a discreet business unit holding its own budget, staffing resource pool and management team. Small office bases are located across Scotland, and our head office is based in Glasgow where core and central services along with the executive management team are located. We also run several needle exchanges, drop in and crisis services. Excluding needle exchange services, we support c.10,000 people per year- many individuals being complex and vulnerable. Many of our models are collaborative working side by side with other services and/or in a multi-disciplinary manner. Several of our residential units have the need for experienced nurses for dispensing controlled medication.

As part of our ongoing workforce planning, and to ensure we make the best possible use of our resources while continuity maintaining high-quality services, we have taken the decision to retender our contract for agency workers.

This tender relates specifically to short-term cover, temporary roles and shift cover. It does not include recruitment for new or permanent appointments. However, we are keen for proposals to include “temp to perm” arrangements, as many of our services currently use this complementary approach successfully.

Our existing contract operates on a ‘first call’ basis, and we anticipate continuing with a similar model. We welcome tender submissions that include innovative ideas and solutions that can further enhance our approach.

Our Objectives

Through this tender process, we aim to:

  • Put in place a robust and reliable ‘first call’ agency worker contract for Turning Point Scotland
  • Improve efficiency, quality and ease of use of agencies
  • Streamline communication, contact points and contract management, making effective use of digital solutions
  • Ensure consistent and comprehensive coverage across all our Scottish services
  • Build strong, trusting relationships between Turning Point Scotland staff and our contracting agency or agencies
  • Achieve high levels of satisfaction for everyone involved in using and managing our services
