The Glasgow Housing First Consortium is in its transition year from the Pathfinder programme that supported the scale up Housing First from across the country, helping make Housing First the default model for people experiencing Homelessness who have complex needs.
The Consortium is a partnership between Turning Point Scotland, Salvation Army, Wheatley Care and Simon Community Scotland. It was created as part of the national pathfinder programme funded by the Scottish Government, Social Bite and the Merchants House of Glasgow. The Consortium work have worked closely with stakeholders across the City including the HSCP, RSL’s and many others to continue to achieve a high tenancy sustainment rate of over 80%, supporting the transition of 140 people into tenancies to date.
Whilst we are proud of our tenancy sustainment, we are concerned about the high rate of deaths within the service due to suspected drug overdose. We continue to work closely with a number of partners including the Glasgow Overdoes Response team to ensure that we can provide an intervention to prevent an overdose becoming a fatality. We also have a developing Naloxone programme with staff carrying Naloxone and training people who may know of someone at risk of an opioid overdose to use and carry the life saving medication.
Turning Point Scotland continue to deliver Housing First support to around 50 service users in the Housing First Legacy service in Glasgow.
