On the back of the successful launch of the Glasgow Overdose Response Team (GORT) funding was secured to enable the response to be rolled out in the Lanarkshire area.

The Lanarkshire Overdose Response Team (LORT) is a rapid response to near-fatal overdoses which provides a short, focused period of support to each person. LORT assertively connects individuals with mainstream alcohol and other drug services.

This 12-month test of change is delivered in partnership with Simon Community Scotland on an assertive outreach basis across all localities within the Lanarkshire area.

We address other potential barriers including information and data sharing; prescribing arrangements, and rapid access to mainstream alcohol and other drug services.

We will aim to increase engagement with alcohol and other drug services and further develop the template which the Drug Deaths Taskforce could roll out to other areas.
