Dumfries & Galloway Housing First and Housing Support Service
Description
We provide support to people who are experiencing or are at risk of Homelessness ranging from low to medium level needs. We provide a range of practical housing support interventions to help people manage their own home and maintain their tenancy.
This service enables the people we support to live their lives in an environment which suits their needs and to assist the individual to maintain their own tenancy, to live in their own home and have an equal presence in their local community.
We use a person-centred planning process to provide an individually designed package of support. The support offered is based on the needs, goals and aspirations of the individual who engage with the service.
Delivering a Housing First approach flips the Homelessness staircase model on its head by supporting people with multiple and enduring support needs to move into a tenancy without having to prove they are ready for it.
Pioneering this work from 2010 in Glasgow working with partners to ensure we deliver a high fidelity approach and supporting the development of a systems fidelity approach to Housing First.
We believe that if any of us have a home we can work through our problems better, together and faster; bringing community to citizens, because people matter.
