LD Week 2017 huge success

The annual Learning Disability week was a great success this year with people all across Scotland raising awareness and highlighting the important issues facing individuals and organisations.
The prize for raising awareness of Learning Disability Week in the most far flung place must surely go to John McIntosh from our Perth & Kinross service. John said: “I really liked being at the Nou Camp stadium and would save up to go again” He was supported by colleagues from the service on a great holiday.

TPS had many events and activities running around the country including Dundee’s 15th anniversary & Perth’s 10 year celebrations.

Inverclyde hosted a stakeholder day at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock with some inspiring presentations and fun activities.

Elgin took part in The Living Golf, a collaborative event with other providers focusing on the theme of the week, Looking Back, Thinking Forward.  They also hosted Bake it Happen with a raffle/tombola stall.

There were lots of other ways to get involved including social media.

On Twitter alone, #LDWeek2017 reached over 1,000,000 people (over 3,500,000 impressions were made) thanks to the 1,500 tweets that were shared using the tag.

On Facebook, SCLD posts reached over 34,000 people in five days.
